Our Trustees

Isaac Ellis Jacob

Chairman

I was called as a barrister over 55 years ago and still practice in numerous fields including medical negligence, generally defending medical practitioners. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a retired Recorder of the Crown Court, assistant Parliamentary Boundary Commissioner, and Disciplinary chairman of ILEA and a US attorney called in California and Arizona. I have been personally and professionally aware of the importance of proper catheterisation techniques that ought to be followed by medical practitioners and of the damage that can result from a failure to carry out such proper techniques. In the circumstances it is impossible to overstate the importance of ensuring that medical practitioners are properly educated in such techniques and procedures, one of the main aims of our Charity. Urethral problems have not had the money and attention spent on other illnesses and it is an aim of the Charity to create awareness of this failing and to support research in this area.

Daniela Erna Andrich

Founder and Trustee

I am a specialist in reconstructive urethral surgery, working at UCLH and HCA since 2008 as a consultant surgeon, with an honorary associate professorship at UCL. My mission is to support individuals affected by urethral stricture disease. To this end, I founded CURE, a charity dedicated to raising awareness and generating funds for research and education for the prevention of urethral injuries that lead to strictures, and to positively impact the lives of both men and women dealing with this condition.

Aslam Lala

Trustee

I am a founding member of CURE, driven by my personal experience with urethral strictures for almost 20 years. CURE aims to develop a permanent cure for this underreported condition, addressing the lack of expertise in its treatment. By training and educating NHS practitioners to adhere to best practices, CURE can benefit all stakeholders, including NHS budgets. I bring my expertise as a semi-retired Chartered Accountant with a background in global telecommunications and IT services. As the former CFO of a London-based property developer, I possess valuable financial acumen.

Richard Sutton-Mattocks

Trustee

After my career as a City lawyer, I shifted my focus towards supporting several medical and cancer research charities associated with UCL/UCLH. I joined CURE as a Trustee with the intention of raising awareness about urethral strictures, improving safe catheterisation techniques through better education for medical professionals, and ultimately funding research into improved therapies for urethral stricture conditions.

Stephen Moseley

Trustee

I am a highly experienced property professional with a 29-year career in Facilities, Project, Real Estate, and Health and Safety Management and delivered numerous property change projects for charities and corporations. My motivation to join CURE is deeply personal, as I have suffered from strictures and catheterisation emergencies myself. This firsthand experience has fuelled my dedication to support the charity’s objectives in raising awareness and securing funding for research and education.

Paul Crook

Trustee

After a first career in diplomacy focusing on policy and national security, I shifted to strategy consulting, working with leading firms like PA Consulting, Gemini Consulting, and Accenture, specialising in customer-centric transformations and performance improvement. My work across Europe led to roles in business development for major tech companies like IBM, HP, and AWS, focusing on digital transformation for governments worldwide. Leveraging my background in market research and an MBA in marketing, I’ve advised at high levels in government and the commercial sector, emphasising customer insight. I am committed to fostering positive, transformational change and have been recognised for my leadership in ethics, transformation, and promoting diversity and social cohesion globally.

David Gerard Kerrigan

Trustee

Before joining a Christian charity, I worked as a management accountant in industry. I relocated to Bangladesh with my family, managing a hospital for four years, and then studied Theology in London before returning overseas to serve a the Asia Team Leader for the charity in Sri Lanka. I returned again to the UK and worked for ten years as overseas director and nine years as the charity’s CEO. During these years I served on the boards of international agencies in Nepal, Afghanistan, and the US, as well as two theological colleges in Oxford and London. Following cancer surgery in 2015, I experienced first-hand the complications of stricture and, through CURE, I hope to contribute to improving education and research into stricture treatments.
